Preparing for a Fourth Term: Entering the Presidential Year!

As President Joe Biden enters the fourth year of his presidency, he has a daunting but exciting task ahead of him—making an historic impact on the United States of America and the world. After three years of an unprecedented 2016 through 2020, the Biden administration has embraced an “all of government” approach to decision-making, recognizing the pressing needs of today and the imperative to address them.

Over the past three years, President Biden has made unparalleled strides in areas such as economic security, healthcare, education, criminal justice reform, climate change, and foreign affairs. All of these elements are intertwined and prioritize a progressive vision for the nation as a fairer, more peaceful and prosperous place. The Biden administration has taken steps to secure and expand access to affordable healthcare by committing to provide tax credits to low-income families and strengthening the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In addition, the administration has taken policy steps to increase the minimum wage, and reduce the unemployment rate by providing economic relief to the working class.

On the climate front, President Biden fulfilled his commitments to rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, and his executive order creating the White House Office of Climate Policy will drive the much needed changes in policy to tackle the global climate crisis. The president also recognizes the importance of strengthening economic and education opportunities for all Americans, particularly those in underserved communities, and has convened a “White House Opportunity Agenda” task force to move in that direction.

Additionally, Biden has focused heavily on criminal justice reform, which he sees as an issue of racial injustice. He has proposed the Justice in Policing Act, which aims to end racial profiling, ban the use of chokeholds, limit the use of no-knock warrants, and establish independent investigations of deadly force by police.

Now with his fourth year in office beginning, President Biden looks to continue the progress he has made and to strengthen our nation’s communities for a more equitable future. He will focus on large-scale issues, such as passing comprehensive immigration reform, strengthening foreign alliances, and climate change while prioritizing the needs of the working class and marginalized populations. Only time will tell how the Biden administration will fare in its goal of making a lasting and reliable impact on the United States of America and the world, but as the new year begins, the American people are hopeful that the Biden administration can accomplish all of these grand goals.
