2. Russia
As of 2020, Russia sits in second place, with the country’s gold mines producing 330 metric tons of gold. Siberia is Russia’s primary gold mining region, famous for its vast and extensive deposits. Major companies like Polyus Gold and Kinross Gold operate there.
3. Australia
In the same year, Australia was able to produce approximately 330 metric tons of gold, bringing it to third place in global ranking. Large producing mines scattered across Western Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales contribute to Australia’s substantial output. Giants in the industry such as Newmont Corporation and Northern Star Resources operate in Australia.
4. United States
The United States comes in fourth with gold production volumes reaching 200 metric tons. The states of Nevada and Alaska are major contributors to the overall output. U.S. gold mines, such as those owned by Newmont Mining Corporation and Barrick Gold Corporation, are among the largest and most productive worldwide.
5. Canada
Canada ranks fifth with an estimated production of 170 metric tons of gold in 2020. Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, and Nunavut are the leading provinces in terms of gold production. Some mining giants operating in Canada include Barrick Gold, Agnico Eagle, and Yamana Gold.
6. Peru
Peru, with a production of 150 metric tons, is the sixth-largest gold producer. Yanacocha and Pierina are among the largest gold mines in the country. Newmont Mining Corporation and Buenaventura are notable companies active in this South American country.
7. Ghana
Ghana, often referred to as the Gold Coast, is the seventh-largest gold producer with approximately 130 metric tons. The Ashanti Gold Belt, which includes the Obuasi and Iduapriem mines, is the largest contributor to its production. Major corporations, including AngloGold Ashanti and Gold Fields, are key operators in this West African country.

South Africa, once the world’s largest gold producer has seen its gold output plummet in recent years, but
