1. Canada: At the top of our list is Canada, the undisputed leader in potash production. Canada’s potash reserves are projected to last over 400 years at current production rates. With mines predominantly located in Saskatchewan, potash production in 2024 increased to an estimated 22 million tonnes, making Canada an indispensable player in global potash resources. Main producers include Nutrien Ltd. and Mosaic Co., both having mines in Saskatchewan.
2. Russia: Holding the second spot for potash production is Russia, with an estimated of 7.5 million tonnes of output in 2024. Russia’s massive potash deposits notably lie in the Ural mountains and under the North Russian Plain area. The Russian potash market player, Uralkali, not only drives domestic production but also significantly influences global potash prices.
3. Belarus: Belarus ranks third on the list. With an output reaching approximately 7.3 million tonnes in 2024, Belarus made its mark globally. Key player Belaruskali, involved primarily in the extraction, production, and export of potash fertilizers, contributes notably to this high production volume.
4. China: The fourth in line is China with an estimated production of 6.2 million tonnes in 2024. Even though China is primarily known as one of the largest potash consumers globally, it has recently ramped up local potash production due to its high domestic demand.
5. Germany: Securing the fifth position is Germany, the largest potash producer within Europe. Estimated to produce 2.9 million tonnes in 2024, Germany’s reserves are mainly located in the Northern Hesse and Thuringia mining areas. K+S AG, Germany’s multi-mineral resources company, contributes significantly to the country’s annual production.
6. Israel: Ranking sixth on the list is Israel that produced around 2.0 million tonnes in 2024. The Dead Sea basin in Israel has substantial potash reserves, and Israel Chemicals Ltd., a leading global manufacturer and supplier of potash products, plays a significant role in potash production.
7. Jordan: Coming seventh is Jordan with 1.0 million tonnes of potash production in 2024. The country’s plentiful potash reserves come mainly from the Dead Sea area. The Arab Potash Company, a key player in Jordan, carries out the extraction and manufacturing of potash.
8. United States: The eighth place is held
