On October 10th 2020, the citizens of Kibbutz Nirim in Israel were the unwitting victims of a carefully planned attack carried out by Hamas, a designated terrorist organization. Fortunately, a group of brave volunteer guards came to their aid and thwarted the attack, preventing it from carrying out its mission.
This incident began on a night marked by a brief but intense exchange of fire between Hamas militants and a kibbutz guard post. The guard post was manned by dedicated volunteers who carry out their duties on a voluntary basis and bear arms, including rifles, to defend themselves and the kibbutz.

In the wake of the attempted attack, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a search of the nearby area in an effort to locate the Hamas militants. The IDF located and arrested two suspects who have since been linked to the organization.
The guards, who foiled the attempted attack, were extensively praised for their actions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement commending them for their dedication and quick action, leading to the prevention of the attack.
The incident at Kibbutz Nirim also serves as an example of the importance of volunteer guards and their important role in helping to defend the borders of Israel.
